Chapter 7

Marley

After delicious greasy burgers and fries from a hole-in-the-wall bar Colton took me to where we laughed about our fine dining adventure, we are already back at Maddie and Nash’s place. How did the evening go by so fast? Colton turns off the truck engine and we sit there, the air crackling with electricity.

“Colton, why don’t you come in for a while? Nash and my sister are probably asleep. If we hang out in the living room I’m sure we won’t disturb them.” I bite my lower lip, hoping he’ll agree.

“If you are sure we won’t bother them, I’d love to.” As we get out of the truck I smile to myself. I have no idea if we will disturb them or not, and I don’t care. All I know is I don’t want this night to end.

We creep inside, whispering to each other as we make our way through the kitchen and into the living room. A fire is still going in the fireplace behind a glass safety door. I’m grateful they must have just gone to bed. In fact, I wouldn’t put it past my sister to hear the truck approaching and insist she and Nash clear out. What a good sister.

As we settle onto the sofa next to each other, there’s something I want to discuss with Colton. “Why did you make that remark at the restaurant? The one about young people?”

His arm is behind me, his fingers softly strumming my neck. I snuggle against him without conscious thought of doing it.

“Because there is an age difference, Marley. I’m 35. How old are you?”

“Twenty-three. It’s not that big of a difference, really. And didn’t my sister say something about Elise and Rhett having an age gap? Did you have a problem with them dating?”

He shakes his head. “I suppose not.”

“Then it shouldn’t be a problem for us.”

He nods, then grins. “Plus, I have such a great body, right?” He pinches my side and it’s all I can do not to squeal.

“Dang it, I knew you weren’t gonna let that one go.”

“Never,” he says before leaning in, his eyes locked on mine. “Come here, baby girl.”

Those words from his lips make my core clench and my panties instantly damp. He threads his fingers through my hair and pulls me against him, crushing his lips to mine in another all-consuming kiss. His tongue parts my lips and explores my mouth, claiming it as he tastes me.

I climb into his lap, straddling his thick, muscular thighs like I did last night. My dress rides up again, but this time he slips his hand between my legs and groans when he feels how ready I am for him.

I arch against him and whimper as his lips burn kisses into my neck while he pushes my panties aside and thrusts a finger into my core.

His husky voice is barely above a whisper. “Fuck, baby. You are so tight. So perfect. So damn beautiful.”

With his free hand he slips the spaghetti straps of my dress off my shoulders and it falls to my hips, exposing the bustier I’m wearing.
